Analysis of DBMS market trends in Russia

Abstract

The current stage of development of both society as a whole and the economy in particular is characterized by a high demand for information technologies, including database management systems. In the process of functioning of organizations at the present stage, there are many tasks that require the use of database management systems. The scope of application of a DBMS covers various areas of activity and levels of management, from solving applied accounting problems and automating organizational management systems to forecasting trends in the economic development as a whole. In the current economic and political situation on the Russian market, the demand for domestic developments in the field of information technology has sharply increased. The need for import substitution has significantly increased the use of Russian DBMS in both the public and private sectors of the Russian economy. This has affected both open-source and closed-source database management systems, while the use of open-source software products is becoming increasingly popular. State procurements of DBMS developed by domestic manufacturers have already become predominant in 2022, which naturally leads to the development of domestic software products.
